Have you noticed that your toddler gravitates towards your remote control, phone, keyboard, light switches, basically anything with buttons? Well, I came across this happy accident at my pediatrician's office. He had one of these old-school
multiplication push button boards in the wait area and my 1 year old sat there and played with it quietly for nearly 30 minutes. Of course I took notice as well as every other parent in the waiting room. The very next day I ran out to buy one and 4 months later it is still a great toy that keeps her happily busy for enough time that it's worth it! The best was when we were on a 5 hour flight and I brought it along. No loose pieces, no obnoxious sounds and light enough to throw in your carry-on.
